Over spring break 2012, the Atomic Productions crew – including me – went on an impromptu tour of Texas. It was 12:00 Sunday Night and I get a call from Ben saying he wants me to come shoot in Houston the next day. So being the wanderlust bachelor that I am, I left at 2:00 am Monday morning. After the two day shoot in Houston, Andrew calls asking if we wanted to go straight to the Hyatt Regency Hillcountry Resort and Spa in San Antonio. So, being the hardworking young men we are, we decided to go. Relaxation, good laughs, a few fights, and about a million lazy river rides, we got back to the weird town of Austin. Then, I get a call asking if I am available that weekend to shoot a Christian Rap Documentary at SXSW which is where I met the incredibly humble and talented Jerrell Johnson… who you all need to check out. Also, Ben Haschke had his 22 birthday over the break… and thanks to Ben Adams and text messaging, I was able to use it in the swish vlog. Nearly two months have gone by since Derek Madrigal was attacked while on Spring Break on South Padre Island. He and his family are now miles away, back home in Dallas. There Derek has been focusing on his recovery, getting love and attention from his family, and regaining strength to get back to his normal routine — and he’s doing it with renewed optimism. “I have a different outlook on life, I could’ve died – that could’ve been my life,” Derek said. “I’m going to enjoy life even more now that I still do have my life – I survived!”
